While playing in their garden, Bobby and Susi discover a magical yellow butterfly that sings. When they tell Grandfather about her, he shares an ancient legend passed to him by his grandparents. He tells them that butterflies were trained to go out into the world and spread hope and love by granting wishes. Imagining all the things they could wish for, the children decide to capture the butterfly so she will make their dreams come true. But once they have her in captivity, they realize an important truth: her freedom is more important than all the ice cream and princess castles they could ever desire. In the unselfish act of releasing her, Bobby and Susi discover that the most powerful wish is a wish made with love.
Written as a response to the author's wish to connect with her late father, The Yellow Butterfly brings his unfailing positive attitude and love to children everywhere who need the powerful magic of heartfelt wishes. Now, whenever they see a yellow butterfly, they will know that their wishes have been given wings.
